He joined Buckau Wolf (now known as Thyssen Krupp) a multinational industrial organization in 1958 at Pimpiri and rose to one of the top positions in short time. He left employment in 1976 at start his own industry and business. Now he runs his owns business and he is also Investment Counsellor. He was a District Governor of Lions International in 1986-87. He was Founder President of Bunts Sangha, Pune.His wife Chandrakala Shetty was also District Governor of Lions International in 1994-95.

Presidents of Bunts' Sangha, Pune hails from KALAI GUTTU HOUSE – Padebettu, Padubidri. At the age of 13, he migrated to Mumbai in search of a "bright future".
He started his business at the age of 19 with BEST Canteen at Dadar and then Hotel Sadanand at Goregaon (East). He joined Congress and worked as a Joint Secretary for the Block Congress and associated with Goregaon Karnataka Sangha. He was founder member of "The Suburban Hotel Owners' Association" and worked as Honorary Secretary.
